Systems Engineer

Reporting To: Head of Engineering

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage the NOC Team: Lead and oversee the Network Operations Center (NOC).
2. Oversee All Monitoring: Ensure seamless network monitoring and proactive issue resolution.
3. Incident Response: Lead incident responses and ensure swift issue resolution.
4. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed network documentation and provide regular performance reports.

Duties

Network Design and Implementation

• Design IP networks to meet organizational needs.
• Configure routers, switches, OLTs, and DWDM equipment to carry network traffic.

Network Management and Monitoring

• Monitor network performance to ensure 99.99% availability.
• Use monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve network issues.

Troubleshooting and Support

• Diagnose network problems and bottlenecks.
• Ensure client satisfaction by meeting the 99.99% SLA.

Security and Compliance

• Implement network security measures to protect equipment and client traffic.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Network Optimization

• Analyze traffic and optimize network performance.
• Implement best standard routing practices to guarantee high Quality of Service (QoS).

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, procedures, and performance.
• Provide daily, weekly, and monthly network performance reports.

Continuous Learning and Improvement

• Stay updated on industry trends and obtain certifications through training.

Collaboration and Coordination

• Collaborate with NOC, IT, and security teams for seamless operations.
• Work with vendors and service providers to avoid service disruptions.

Education Requirements

• BSc in Computer Science or Telecommunications OR
• Diploma in Computer Science or Telecommunications with 3+ years of experience in similar roles.

Essential Qualifications

• Excellent work ethic.
• Strong understanding of GPON networks (certifications are an added advantage).
